ReviewGen.AI Setup Guide: From Signup to First Review Link in 10 Minutes

Complete walkthrough from account creation to your first working review link. Configure your platform, set up your business profile, and start collecting reviews today.

You've decided to start collecting more reviews. Now you need a working system. This guide walks you through setting up ReviewGen.AI from scratch — no technical knowledge required. In 10 minutes, you'll have a shareable link that helps customers leave reviews on Google, Yelp, or any other platform you choose.

What You're Building

By the end of this guide, you'll have:

  • A configured ReviewGen.AI account
  • A business profile that feeds your AI review prompts
  • A review collection form tied to your chosen platform
  • A shareable review link you can send via email, text, or QR code
  • A tested workflow from form submission to review platform

This setup forms the foundation for every review you'll collect. Get it right once, and you can generate hundreds of reviews from a single working system.

Step 1: Create Your Account

Head to reviewgen.ai and click "Get Started" or "Sign Up." You have two options:

  • Email signup: Enter your email and create a password. You'll receive a verification email — click the link to activate your account.
  • Google signup: Faster option if you have a Google account. Click "Continue with Google" and authorize ReviewGen.AI access.

No credit card required. The free plan gives you 2 businesses, 2 review forms, and 2 review links. Perfect for testing the system and collecting your first batch of reviews.

After signup, you'll land on your dashboard at /editor. This is where you'll configure everything.

Step 2: Set Up Your Business Profile

Click "Create Business" or follow the onboarding prompt. You'll fill out four fields that power the AI review generation system:

Business Name

Enter your business name exactly as it appears on your review profiles. If you're "Joe's Coffee Shop" on Google, use that name here. The AI includes this in generated review drafts, so accuracy matters.

Business Description

This is the most important field for AI quality. Describe what your business does in 2-3 sentences. Include:

  • Your industry: "Family-owned Italian restaurant"
  • Your services: "Specializing in handmade pasta and wood-fired pizza"
  • What makes you different: "Using locally sourced ingredients"

Bad example: "We provide excellent service."
Good example: "Family-owned Italian restaurant in downtown Austin. We specialize in handmade pasta and wood-fired pizza using locally sourced ingredients. Known for our outdoor patio and weekly live music nights."

The AI reads this description when generating review drafts. Better context produces more relevant, specific reviews.

Industry/Category

Select your business category from the dropdown or type a custom one. Options include Restaurant, Retail, Healthcare, Real Estate, Automotive, and more. This helps the AI use industry-appropriate language and review structures.

Website (Optional)

Add your business website if you have one. This field isn't required but helps validate your business profile and can be referenced in review forms.

Click "Create Business" when done. Your business profile is now the foundation for all review collection.

Step 3: Configure Your Review Form

After creating your business, ReviewGen.AI automatically generates your first review form with default settings. Now you'll customize three critical fields.

Choose Your Platform

Click into the "Quick" tab in your form editor. The first field is "Platform." Click the dropdown and select where you want customers to leave reviews:

  • Google (most popular for local businesses)
  • Yelp (restaurants, services, retail)
  • Facebook (local businesses with Facebook pages)
  • Amazon (e-commerce sellers)
  • Trustpilot (SaaS, services, B2B)
  • TripAdvisor (hotels, restaurants, tourism)
  • And 6 more including App Store, Play Store, G2, Capterra, BBB, and Glassdoor

Don't overthink this. Start with Google if you're a local business — it's where most customers search for you. You can create additional forms for other platforms later.

Set Your Redirection URL

This is the direct link to your review page. After customers complete the form, they land here to post their review.

For Google: Open your Google Business Profile, go to the Home tab, click "Ask for reviews," and Google displays your review link. Copy the entire URL (starts with https://g.page/ or https://search.google.com/) and paste it into the "Redirection URL" field.

For other platforms: Navigate to your business page on that platform, find the review section, and copy the URL from your browser. Most review pages have a "Write a review" button — click it and copy that URL.

Can't find your review link? Use our free Review Link Generator tool to get direct links for Google, Yelp, Facebook, and Amazon.

Choose Tone and Length

Scroll down to the "Tone" dropdown. This controls how the AI writes review drafts. Options include:

  • Professional — Formal, business-appropriate (B2B, healthcare, legal)
  • Casual — Friendly, conversational (restaurants, retail, services)
  • Enthusiastic — Excited, energetic (entertainment, events, hospitality)
  • Balanced — Middle ground (most use cases)

For review length, choose:

  • Short — 50-200 characters (quick, mobile-friendly)
  • Medium — 200-500 characters (recommended for most businesses)
  • Long — 500-1000 characters (detailed, story-based)

Medium length with Casual or Balanced tone works for 80% of businesses. You can adjust these settings anytime.

Click "Save" when done.

Step 4: Generate Your First Review Link

Your form is configured. Now you need a shareable link that customers can access. ReviewGen.AI creates one automatically when you save your form, but let's verify it works.

Look for the "Review Links" section at the bottom of your editor. You'll see your first link listed with a name like "Main Link" and a URL format: reviewgen.ai/r/[unique-id]

This is your review collection link. When someone visits this URL:

  1. They see your branded review form
  2. They answer your questions (name, rating, experience)
  3. The AI generates a review draft based on their answers
  4. They edit and approve the draft
  5. They're redirected to your review platform to post

Click the "Copy" icon next to your link. This URL is what you'll share with customers via email, text message, QR code, or social media.

Step 5: Test Your Form

Before sharing your link with real customers, test the full flow yourself. Click "Preview" or paste your review link into a new browser tab.

Walk through as if you're a customer:

  1. Fill out the form fields (name, rating, comments)
  2. Click "Generate Review"
  3. Watch the AI create a draft review based on your inputs
  4. Edit the draft if needed
  5. Click "Copy & Post Review"
  6. Verify you land on your actual review platform page

If the redirect doesn't work, double-check your Redirection URL. Make sure you copied the entire link including https:// and any parameters.

Test on mobile too. Most customers will access your review link from their phones. The form should load fast and work smoothly on small screens.

What's Next

You've completed the core setup. Your review link is live and ready to share. Here's what to do next:

Start Collecting Reviews

Share your review link immediately. Text it to recent customers, add it to your email signature, or post it on social media. Every day you wait is a day without new reviews.

Customize Your Form

The default form works, but you can improve it. Read Part 2: Review Form Builder Guide to learn about custom questions, form templates, and the 2-3 question rule for higher completion rates.

Generate a QR Code

QR codes work great for in-person businesses. Customers scan and land directly on your review form. Read Part 5: QR Code Review Poster Guide to create printable QR codes for your counter, table tents, or posters.

Track Your Results

ReviewGen.AI tracks every view, form submission, and review generated. Check your analytics in the "Analytics" tab to see which channels drive the most reviews. Read Part 7: Review Link Analytics Guide to interpret your funnel metrics.

Common Issues and Fixes

Email Verification Not Arriving

Check your spam folder. If still missing, return to the login page and click "Resend verification email." Add noreply@reviewgen.ai to your contacts to prevent future filtering.

Google Review Link Not Working

Google review links only work for verified Google Business Profile listings. If your listing is unverified, complete verification first. Google's verification process takes 1-2 weeks via postcard or instant verification methods.

Form Not Loading on Mobile

Clear your mobile browser cache and try again. ReviewGen.AI forms are mobile-optimized and work on all modern browsers including Safari, Chrome, and Firefox.

AI Review Drafts Sound Generic

Update your business description with more specific details. The AI uses that context to generate relevant content. Better input produces better output.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a credit card to sign up?

No. ReviewGen.AI offers a free plan with 2 businesses, 2 review forms, and 2 review links. You can sign up and start collecting reviews without entering payment information.

How do I find my Google review link?

Open your Google Business Profile, go to the Home tab, click "Ask for reviews," and Google will display your direct review link. It looks like https://g.page/your-business/review. Copy this entire URL and paste it into the Redirection URL field in ReviewGen.AI.

Can I change the platform later?

Yes. You can edit your form settings at any time to change the target platform or redirection URL. Existing review links will use the updated settings immediately.

What should I put in the business description?

Describe what your business does in 2-3 sentences. The AI uses this context to generate relevant review content, so include your industry, services, and what makes you different. For example: "Family-owned Italian restaurant in downtown Austin. We specialize in handmade pasta and wood-fired pizza using locally sourced ingredients."

How long does setup take?

Most users complete the full setup in 5-10 minutes. Account creation takes 1 minute, business profile setup takes 3-4 minutes, and generating your first link takes another 2-3 minutes. You can start sharing your review link immediately after.

What You've Accomplished

You now have a working review collection system. Your shareable link turns customer conversations into platform reviews. Every time someone completes your form, you get closer to that next rating milestone.

The Quick Start checklist in your dashboard tracks your progress. You've completed the first three items: business profile, platform selection, and review link generation. Next up: customizing your form, downloading your QR code, and analyzing your first batch of results.
